LS.16: Berlin @ Berghain / Panorama Bar

In 2008, we began a mission to take the contrasting, yet complimentary colours of electronic dance music, and bring them together into one wonderful and enriching experience. We do so, because we crave adventure, danger, and beauty. Because we have all taken different paths to reach the same point, yet our journey together has barely begun. Because we are obsessed with things we don't yet know, but are there, waiting for us to discover!

In accordance with these goals, our 16th Berlin edition is a colossal multi-story opus, bringing a diverse, festival-sized lineup to both Berghain and Panorama Bar, for your pleasure and ours.

Synths, drum machines, noise, combining with mechanical purpose and industrial efficiency. London trio Factory Floor have managed to create something simple, bold and new from these classic ingredients, and we're delighted to announce they'll be heading over for a full live electronic workout on the Berghain's own factory floor. Their DFA release last year 'Two Different Ways' made us hard and soft in equal measures, and we can't wait to experience what kind of magic has made them one of the most talked about live acts of recent times.

Centre stage in Panoramabar is the sizzling-hot Joy Orbison, the boy who shot to fame when Hyph Mngo became everybody's favorite soundtrack-to-a-good-time in 2009, and who's latest collaborations with Boddika re-affirm the significance Joy being part of his name. His mixes have a wide remit, from classic house to broken beats to UK bass / post-whatever and beyond... diverse, but all hanging together harmoniously, like old-friends.

As one half of Vex'd, he pioneered what some refer to as 'dubstep'. Fortunately for us, Jamie Teasdale is an artist who cannot stop innovating; as Kuedo he brought us one of the finest albums of 2011 with 'Severant' on Planet-Mu, and we are thrilled to present his world premiere Live / AV set, in collaboration with the renowned Berlin visual collective MFO, who have previously worked with artists like Kode 9, Clark, Oni Ayhun or Shackleton.

Adding to the Joy upstairs, we have two figureheads of the current NYC house scene, Levon Vincent (check his killer Fabric mix last April) and Strength Music boss DJ Qu. Completing the fun downstairs, goodness from Monkeytown in the form of the mighty Lazer Sword (aka Lando Kal & Low Limit), and The Hacker, who's raved-up hoover-bass Shockwave EP on PIAS last March got us fired up like our first E. For the dedicated non-sleepers, Edward and White Records boss Oskar Offermann will keep things lively till Saturday-noon in Panoramabar, and in Berghain, residents Barker, NED, and Puzzle will have you pushing shapes from start to finish.

There you have it, a fresh love sandwich from the Deli of the universe, on your plate. Here's some links to whet your appetite!
